Ten R&B Artists Who Can Break Into The UK in The Near Future

So here goes, here are the 10 RnB Acts that I believe could break through Into the UK this year.

One of my favourite RnB acts around. Has style and a great voice. Worked with some excellent producers, and some tracks he has already recorded would be big if released into the UK. Could easily be marketed as 'the new Chris Brown'. Despite being signed to a record company for five years, and now at 25 years old, he has not yet released an album. He has released one single in 2004 featuring Mario Winans that peaked at 24 on the UK chart. Since then he has faded into the background. However, he has serious talent not just as a singer, but as a song writer. At such a tender age, he has already written songs for JoJo, P Diddy, Jay Sean and Mario. He is in high demand by record labels - Lil Eddie is one of the music industries best kept secrets. His "next step is to the top of the charts". Will he will make it in the UK? Only time will tell.Sounds like - Lil Eddie - City of My Heart -/?yx2yxniefsk

Yep thats right, I said Backstreet Boys. You know, THE Backstreet Boys. They are back, and their new album is going to be huge. With world tour tickets selling like hot cakes and a smooth new urban sound, they will definately rise to new heights. Working with Ryan Tedder (One Republic lead singer), Claude Kelly, RedOne and T Pain, there is a lot of experience going into this album. One problem is that many of their songs for this album have already leaked onto the internet which always dents sales. However, many of the songs may be intentional leaks to give fans a taste of the group's fresh new sound. Lets hope so anyway...Sounds Like - Backstreet Boys - Straight Through The Heart - /?4jlyqekjvww. Their new single out on September. Please buy the album, its going to be big!

A fairly unknown quantity to me until I heard his new album. Born in the Phillipines, grew up in Australia, called Israel Cruz, you wouldn't be blamed for mistaking him for a geography teacher, but this artist has serious talent. Signed to SonyBMG, his first album is doing pretty well in the States and Down Under. He is currently without a UK release, but at the young age of 26, anything can happen. He also sings one of my favourite songs of all time which features big hip hop name Fabolous, and - incidentally - is written by Lil Eddie.Sounds like - Israel ft Fabolous - Gemini - /watch?v=vCElhrIX16A

Varsity are slightly different. They would be marketed at a very different audience. They are very much more of a pop group, with input from urban producers. The reason I have put them in this list that they are unique. They are made up of five young singers who I imagine would appeal to teenage girls, and I genuinely could see them blending into the pop scene in the UK. Without an album or an UK release, that could be a very long way off, but one thing I like about this group is that they do a lot of touring in the USA, which suggest that they can perform live, which some of these artists apparently struggle to do.Sounds like - Varsity - All Of Me - /watch?v=xxpSuA1RRLQ - By far their best song to date.

I'd say that Colby O' Donis has the best chance out of any of these artists of getting a number one in the UK. He has already features in Lady Gaga's songs, and his verse in "Just Dance" is exceptional, and he has received very little credit for it. He is signed to Konvict, and has the backing of huge star Akon. He already has some tracks that would make it big in the UK. He is multi talented, he plays guitar, bass, percussion, synthesizer, and the keyboard - all of which are featured on his debut album. He is also a perfectionist, his album reportedly took three years to make as he wanted to "make every song to be a single". With Kardinal Official also getting a UK release, it seems that Colby is next, and will prove to be just as successfulSounds like - Colby O Donis - Under My Nose - /watch?v=Dvzx7xV26G8

Pleasure P is just beginning his solo career. As the lead singer from huge RnB / Hip Hop group Pretty Ricky, he is seeking new challenges and is targeting the top of the charts. His second single peaked at #2 on the US RnB chart, and his album reached the top 10 of the Billboard 200. With the success of two top 40 singles while with Pretty Ricky, Pleasure P may be keen to get back into the UK charts, and there is a gap for him in the market. His smooth voice and clever lyrics could be a combination for success.Sounds like - Pleasure P - Dream In The Air - /watch?v=lFMGH6HEVLg - Very inspirational song - probably my favourite off his album.

Day 26 are another one of those RnB groups that were formed on a reality TV show. I know what your probably thinking - these guys are probably half decent singers thrown into a group with no connection or chemistry. Well you would be wrong. Day 26 are made up of talented, natural born performers. They are signed to BadBoy records - P Diddy's label, as he played a pivotal role in founding the grouip. With two US albums already recorded, peaking at #1 and #2 respectively, surely the UK is the next step. They have already made first steps by playing the Indigo2 in February, to a packed out venue. My only doubt is that their songs are mainly low tempo, and this may not appeal as much to a wide UK audience as some of the other acts in my list. However, they have been extremely successful in the US so who is to say they won't have the same success if marketed in the UK?Sounds like - Day 26 - Got Me Going - /watch?v=HhM1YTVP0z4

This may be a strange choice. However, Flipsyde have made an global impact, even though they are still unknown in the UK. Their sound incorporates rock and hip hop sounds, and are very unique. Their song "Champion" was used for both the theme song for the 2008 Summer Olympics and also the main song on NBA Live 2009. The Washington Post proclaimed their first album as the best hip hop album of 2006. They have toured around the US and also in India where they reportedly like to perform. They are also touring with Akon, which can only help raise their profile. Their latest album is very strong, partly because virtually all their songs were produced by either RedOne or Akon. So Flipsyde may well be the next act to break into the UK.Sounds like - Flipsyde - When It Was Good - /watch?v=meZqM8K9Hmo

Nope its not a picture of Usher ten years ago. Its Sammie, and if looks are anything to go by, this young man is going to be huge. In the business since the age of 12, ten years on, and on the brink of releasing his third studio album, the world is his oyster. He is perhaps best known for his chorus in the Soulja Boy song "Kiss Me Thru The Phone". Maybe in time, his UK career will begin with a first solo single. Sounds like - Sammie ft Cassidy - Mechanic - /watch?v=8zNAueMYbBM

Ryan Leslie a.k.a R Les, has a ridiculous amount of talent. As a singer, rapper, producer, song writer and multi-instrumentalist, theres not a lot this man can not do. With his debut self titled album coming in the near future, and with rumours of a UK release, the breakthrough may come sooner rather than later for this artist. With features on BBC 1Xtra, his profile is slowly being raised, and could be a big star in the future. Sounds Like - Ryan Leslie - Diamond Girl - /watch?v=SUxcWHF8kTA - good song, sharp video.
